If you follow me on Instagram (you better *shakes fist*), then you may have seen that I had the pleasure of attending a private comedy show at the famous Carolines comedy club in NYC, thanks to Procter & Gamble! Hosted by Marlon Wayans, the night was filled with tear-jerking laughs from Sherri Shepherd, Michelle Buteau & my favorite Michael Che. The hysterical show was centered around the theme of #NYTough- what it means to them, & how P&G helps get them through the tough times NY put upon us. There is always a funny story to be had of an awkward NY moment, trust me.When P&G asked what being NY Tough means to me, it was pretty hard for me to narrow down. Living in Brooklyn, & commuting to Manhattan daily can get pretty gritty. Actually, NY in general can get pretty gritty. ha! From worrying about where you step, what you touch, bolting to make the G train, holding onto your purse like a grandma with a death grip, where you put your metrocard, crossing the street without getting hit by a taxi, subway surfing because you can't reach a rail, stairs (so many stairs), where the hell a public restroom is, trying hard not to push someone out of your way... Well, you get the point. It's stressful! But we are not all mean (I promise you that), we just have constant challenges that simply make us #NYTough.
For me, weekends are usually spent on errands & trying to stay put in Brooklyn as much as possible. I have to deal with enough sardine-packed subway rides (6 of these a day just for work..ew!) during the week, that it's the last thing I want to do when the weekend hits. Laundry day comes almost as a blessing. Time to wash the week off of your favorite clothes, while keeping it cozy on a Sunday morning at the laundromat. Who knows what your jeans picked up during the week sitting on that subway. *shivers* And god forbid that guy next to you can't hold on tight enough to his coffee, while the L train is twisting & turning... I don't even want to think about it!No New Yorker looks forward to savaging all their quarters & lugging their laundry bag up and down 4 flights of stairs.. let's be real. So when P&G sent me over a foolproof kit to keep me staying NY Tough, I was really excited to try out the Tide Detergent Pods. The last thing I want to carry with my 60 pound bag of clothes, is heavy products to clean them with. The Tide pods are a detergent, stain remover, & brightener all in one. Having to only take one of these little guys with me to the laundromat is such a life saver! From subway stains, to city smog, and just the hustle and grind of NY life, I know Tide can handle it & keeps me staying #NYTough.
