Modern Romantic with Motel Rocks

Monday, March 30, 2015

This maroon, floral printed dress that Motel Rocks sent me for NYFW
was perfect for a Valentine's day filled with shows, don't you think?!
The flow and detail of this little mini is so romantic, with oversized belled sleeves and a
sassy lace up back. Even though this look is a month old (yeah, yeah I'm slow), I can't
wait to break it back out this spring. I'll probably trade in the jacket and tights for some dreamy
ankle boots & a flower crown… and Lincoln Center for an excluded beach to twirl around on.
Yeah, that sounds about right!

What I'm Wearing:
Melza Lace Up Dress ℅ Motel Rocks | Leather Jacket- Zara
Amie Over the Knee Boots - Public Desire  | Silk Reflections Pantyhose ℅ Hanes Hosiery
Charlotte Backpack ℅ Dolce Vita Handbags

#TBT: Keeping Cozy During NYFW

Thursday, March 19, 2015

NYFW was almost a month ago, and tomorrow is the first day of spring (finally).
But with the promise of a snowstorm tomorrow, it looks like I may be wrapping myself
back up in this cozy look sooner than I thought! I absolutely love this dress that
Motel Rocks sent to me for NYFW. It has the most fairy-tale like bell sleeves
and stunning lace-up back, that I can't wait to show off in the warmer weather.
Whenever it decides to get here, that is!

What I'm Wearing:

NYFW Flashback Friday with Motel Rocks

Friday, March 6, 2015

Happy Friday everyone, or shall I say happy flash back Friday?
Not flashing too far back, just to this past NYFW. Nicole and I shot this after a
fun blogger brunch with Foxie Dox at the Gavensevoort on park avenue.
It was so much fun to kick off the day before NYFW with friends, & a yummy brunch.
Motel Rocks hooked me up with this maxi dress that is so me, it's not even funny.
The lotus print is a favorite of mine. It has a side slit that catches the wind perfectly.
I can't wait to wear it without tights, and preferably on a beach!

What I'm Wearing:
Big Lotus Dress c/o Motel Rocks  |  Zara Leather Jacket
Miss Selfridge Fedora | Dolce Vita Boots
Charlotte Backpack c/o Dolce Vita Collection | Miu Miu Sunglasses

Chakra Balancing with Buddha Teas

Monday, March 2, 2015

The Sanskrit word Chakra translates to wheel or disk. In the practice of Ayurveda,
yoga, and meditation, chakras are the body's wheels of energy that correspond
to major nerve centers. These extensions of our energy are how we exchange energy
with others in our own environment & help make up our own auric field.
Each chakra not only associates with our physical health, but also controls
the health of our mental body, emotional body, and belief system.

There are said to be thousands of chakras in the body (and beyond it), but there are
7 main chakra centers that we can connect to on several different levels. On a physical
level each chakra governs a main gland or organ that is connected to body parts
resonating on the same frequency. This is why it's so important to get in touch with
your chakras, and to understand why and where you may have a block. Blocked chakras
can often lead to illness, and various physical and emotional difficulties.

There are endless ways to stimulate and balance your chakras. You can achieve this
by vibrating at it's resonating frequency through thoughts, food, visualization, meditation,
gems & minerals, syntonics, clothing, color bathing, aromatherapy, music & dance,
toning & sounds, art & color, drinking solarized water, recharging by the source of the sun,
and even drinking Buddha Teas!

Buddha Teas believe The best way to stay in touch with your chakras, is through
the power that nature provides. This particular tea is a blend of special herbs attuned
to the third chakra, and the solar plexus energy center.

A delicious blend of USDA organic herbs & spices of rosemary, lemongrass,
orange peel, marshmallow leaf, and ginger root are powerfully infused with the essence
of citrine, inside of a bleach free tea bag.. a-maz-ing! This particular blend is so flavorful,
refreshing and light, I absolutely love it warm or chilled.

Be sure to check out the entire chakra line, as well as the large variety of
tasty teas that Buddah Teas carries here.

The Manipura Chakra (also known as the solar plexus chakra), is the third chakra in the body,
and the center of our emotional being. Located above the navel, this chakra is
responsible for affecting our will, perception of one's self, self-control, self-worth,
self-confidence, and self-esteem. Represented by the color yellow, the Manipura Chakra connects
you to your minds power through mental awareness, & radiates confidence and optimism
when balanced. While this chakra seeks enjoyment and pleasure, it's really all
about who you are, & your purpose in the world.

Signs of imbalance in the Manipura Chakra:
Digestive problems. Weak metabolism. Ulcers. Diabetes. Hypoglycemia.
Constipation. Nervousness. Toxicity. Parasites. Colitis. Poor Memory.

Ways to stimulate the Manipura Chakra:
Doing mind puzzles. Detoxication programs. Reading informative books.
Drinking and eating yellow food. Taking classes. Meditating and working with yellow
gemstones. Wearing yellow clothing. Using yellow essential oils.

Solar Plexus Chakra Affirmations:
I love and accept myself.
I stand up for myself.
I am strong and courageous.
I am worthy of love, kindness, and respect.
I choose the best for myself.
I express myself in a powerful way.
I am proud of my achievements.
I honor my self.
I choose healthy relationships.
I am authentic.
I direct my own life.
I appreciate my strengths.
I feel my own power.
I am free to choose in any situation.
I seek opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.
I am at peace with myself.
